5.2 magnitude quake hits Iran; UAE unaffected by the quake

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit southern Iran on Thursday evening, sparking concern in the region. The tremor, recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers, happened at 7:51 PM UAE time. Although the epicenter of the quake was relatively close to the UAE, no tremors were reported in the Emirates, ensuring normalcy across the nation.

There are no reported immediate casualties and significant damages. The earthquake’s shallowness increases the possibilities of localized damage, which has called for safety assessment in the affected areas. Emergency teams remain on standby to address any emerging issues.

It was a relief when the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), UAE confirmed that the seismic activity was not a threat to the country. This is because the UAE monitors regional seismic events based on advanced detection systems for the safety of its residents.

Earthquakes are a common occurrence in southern Iran, which lies on major tectonic plates. However, UAE residents are often shielded from their effects due to the region’s geographical position and stringent building codes. Authorities continue to stress the importance of preparedness in the event of any seismic activity.
