Record-Breaking Participation

This year’s DFC, held from October 26 to November 4, 2024, achieved a record-breaking 2,735,158 participants—14% more than last year. The city-wide initiative, launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, aimed to encourage everyone to commit to 30 minutes of daily exercise for 30 days.

Free Activities Across Dubai

A key feature of DFC was the variety of free fitness events. Popular fitness villages at locations like Kite Beach, Zabeel Park, and Al Warqa’a Park attracted 467,288 visitors for workouts, sports activities, and family-friendly fun. Additionally, 25 community hubs brought fitness into neighborhoods, offering free classes to over 60,000 participants.

Flagship Events That Brought Communities Together

The DFC flagship events were massive hits:

  • Dubai Stand-Up Paddle (SUP): Held at Hatta Dam, this aquatic event grew to 2,330 participants, offering paddleboarding, kayaking, and yoga amidst stunning mountain views.
  • Dubai Ride: The region’s largest cycling event, Dubai Ride drew 37,130 cyclists who enjoyed routes along Sheikh Zayed Road, including a 4km family-friendly path and a challenging 12km stretch.
  • Dubai Run: Over 278,000 runners participated, including Sheikh Hamdan himself, in either the 5km or 10km routes on the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road.

Interactive Tools for Fitness Enthusiasts

Participants used an interactive map and partnered fitness apps like Whoop, Technogym, and ASICS Runkeeper to find venues, track progress, and stay motivated. These tools made it easier for everyone to engage with the wide range of activities.

Building a Legacy of Health and Fitness

DFC continues to push Dubai toward becoming one of the world’s most active cities. The challenge promotes healthier lifestyles and enhances city infrastructure with parks, fitness centers, and outdoor workout areas.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, praised this year’s achievement:

“With over 2.7 million participants this year alone, DFC continues to show how fitness can become a community movement. Congratulations to all who took part!”

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, added:

“This year was our most inclusive edition yet, inspiring millions to adopt an active lifestyle. The energy and passion of DFC prove that health and fitness are truly for everyone.”

Community Outreach

DFC extended its reach to underserved communities, with initiatives like Zumba classes for female blue-collar workers and the elderly. Fit Republik and other partners ensured everyone had a chance to participate.

Organizers and Sponsors

The event’s success was made possible by numerous partners, including the Dubai Sports Council, DP World, Dubai Municipality, Mai Dubai, Emirates NBD, and talabat. Their support helped make fitness accessible to all.
