Saudi Arabia is preparing for a cold snap, with temperatures expected to drop to -3°C this weekend

Saudi Arabia is gearing up for a notable change in weather this weekend as a cold snap is set to hit the region, bringing with it freezing temperatures and dust storms. The Saudi Meteorology Office has issued alerts, predicting that temperatures could plummet to as low as -3°C, especially in the northern and central areas of the kingdom. This sudden drop in temperature is a stark contrast to the typical warmth that residents enjoy during the winter months.

As the cold air approaches, residents are encouraged to take precautions against the frigid conditions, particularly in elevated regions like Tabuk and the Northern Borders, where the coldest temperatures are anticipated. Alongside the chill, strong winds and dust storms are also expected, which will further decrease visibility and create hazards for travelers.

The meteorology office has advised the public to stay informed about weather updates and to limit outdoor activities in areas heavily impacted by dust. Drivers should exercise caution on the roads, especially in rural regions where the storms are predicted to be most intense.

Although this cold snap is expected to bring a brief period of chill, forecasts indicate that temperatures will begin to rise again in the days to come. In the meantime, residents of Saudi Arabia should prepare for a weekend marked by freezing temperatures and challenging weather, offering a wintry experience that is quite unusual for the region.
