Kuwait is experiencing an unexpected cold snap, with temperatures plummeting to -3°C

Kuwait is facing an unexpected and intense cold snap, with temperatures dropping to as low as -3°C in some areas, marking one of the coldest periods in recent memory. Meteorological officials have confirmed this unusual event, linking it to a strong Arctic air mass moving through the region. The freezing conditions are anticipated to last until Thursday, leading residents to prepare for the ongoing chill.

This significant drop in temperature has taken many by surprise in a country usually known for its sweltering summer heat. Several areas reported frost forming during the early morning hours, prompting authorities to advise citizens to take precautions to stay warm and avoid health issues. Local businesses, especially outdoor markets and cafes, have seen a decline in activity as people choose to remain indoors.

Experts from the Kuwait Meteorological Department noted that such extreme weather occurrences are rare in the Gulf region but can happen during severe winter patterns. “The combination of strong winds and clear skies has led to considerable cooling at night,” one official explained, adding that temperatures in desert areas are expected to stay below freezing.

As the nation deals with this cold snap, residents have taken to social media to post pictures of frost-covered scenery, expressing both surprise and admiration at Kuwait’s winter transformation. Officials are closely monitoring the situation, urging the public to stay updated and follow safety guidelines as the cold wave continues.
