The UAE enforces strict traffic laws across all emirates, but each emirate also has its specific rules. While there are some differences in regulations, all come with severe penalties for violations.

In Ras Al Khaimah, motorists are being reminded about certain violations that could result in hefty fines or even jail time. These offenses, whether committed alone or along with others, can lead to penalties starting from Dh20,000 and could include vehicle impoundment or imprisonment.

Key Traffic Violations in Ras Al Khaimah

Here are some specific violations that drivers must avoid:

  1. Creating or using fake license plates: Manufacturing, imitating, or using forged license plates is a punishable offense.
  2. Altering license plate details: Defacing, changing, or obscuring the information on a license plate while it is in use is prohibited.
  3. Allowing misuse of altered license plates: Permitting someone to use a tampered, defaced, or fake license plate knowingly can lead to legal consequences.
  4. Transferring plates between vehicles: Moving a license plate from one vehicle to another without proper authorization from the Licensing Authority is illegal.
  5. Improper installation of license plates: Installing, assisting, or facilitating the installation of plates in a way that violates the law is considered an offense.

Earlier this year, authorities issued a list of violations that could lead to vehicle impoundment. These were shared on Instagram under the caption: “Executive Council Resolution No. (2) of 2024 regarding some cases of vehicle seizure.”

Motorists are advised to stay vigilant and ensure compliance with these regulations to avoid severe penalties.
