All Abu Dhabi residents can now get comprehensive support when a loved one passes away. The expanded Sanadkom initiative, announced on Thursday, covers all fees associated with death-related services, such as obtaining a death certificate, embalming, and repatriating remains.

Previously available only to UAE nationals, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has extended the initiative to include everyone residing in the emirate. This change simplifies the process for families during difficult times.

What Sanadkom Covers

Sanadkom offers full assistance for all necessary procedures after a death, ensuring families can focus on grieving without worrying about costs or logistics. Services include:

  • Issuing death certificates
  • Ambulance transport
  • Embalming the deceased
  • Repatriation of remains (if needed)

The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an covers all related fees, reducing the financial and administrative burden on grieving families.

How the Sanadkom Process Works

The initiative streamlines the steps families need to take after a loved one passes away. Here’s how it works:

  1. Once a death notice is issued, the Sanadkom team contacts the family to offer condolences and explain the available services.
  2. A text message is sent, listing all the services provided under the initiative.
  3. A representative is assigned to assist the family with every procedure, from documentation to burial arrangements.
  4. Families do not need to visit government offices. All steps can be completed at the Abu Dhabi healthcare facility where the death occurred.
  5. The attending doctor will handle necessary paperwork and permits on the family’s behalf, with their consent.

A Centralised Platform for Simplified Services

Sanadkom connects seven government entities, making the process seamless:

  • Department of Health (DoH)
  • Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC)
  • Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD)
  • Abu Dhabi Pension Fund (ADPF)
  • Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha)
  • Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC)
  • Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC)

This collaboration ensures all formalities are completed efficiently, providing families with peace of mind.

Leadership’s Commitment to Community Support

Her Excellency Hind Al Zaabi, Executive Director of the Customer Experience and Relation Sector at DoH, stated:

“Guided by the vision of our wise leadership, we remain committed to delivering exceptional services to every member of the community. Recognizing the emotional toll of losing a loved one, Sanadkom offers compassionate support, helping families navigate required procedures with ease.”

Since its launch in January 2024, the initiative has successfully supported families of deceased citizens, and this new expansion ensures all Abu Dhabi residents can benefit from its services.
