The iconic Wankhede Stadium is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary in January 2025. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has planned exciting events, starting from January 12 and leading up to a grand finale on January 19 at this historic venue.

The big celebration on January 19 will bring together Mumbai’s cricket legends, both domestic and international, from past and present. Adding to the excitement, well-known performers like Avadhoot Gupte and Ajay-Atul will light up the evening with their performances. The night will close with an awe-inspiring laser show.

To honor Wankhede’s remarkable history, a commemorative postal stamp and a coffee table book will be unveiled during the celebrations. These will pay tribute to the stadium’s legacy, which has seen cricketing icons like Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar creating unforgettable moments.

Built in 1974, Wankhede Stadium is a cricketing landmark. It has witnessed some of the sport’s most iconic events, such as Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell match in 2013 and India’s legendary 2011 ODI World Cup victory. The upcoming anniversary promises to celebrate this legacy with style and grandeur.
