No Summer Flights: British Airways Suspends Abu Dhabi-Heathrow Route

British Airways has announced the suspension of flights between Abu Dhabi and Heathrow for the summer season next year. These flights had resumed earlier this year after a four-year break caused by the pandemic.

According to a customer service representative, the final flight on this route will be on March 30, 2025. Passengers traveling to the UAE during the summer will still have the option to fly to and from Dubai International Airport.

The airline plans to resume Abu Dhabi flights from October 25, 2025.

A representative explained that the decision to suspend flights is based on “guidelines from IATA” (International Air Transport Association). However, the exact reason for the cuts wasn’t confirmed.

In a statement to Reuters, British Airways revealed the changes were due to ongoing engine issues. The airline is facing challenges involving 1,000 engines for its Boeing 787 aircraft. This situation has already led to adjustments in long-haul flight schedules, including delays in the delivery of parts and engines from Rolls-Royce.

British Airways had previously reduced long-haul routes this year due to these supply chain challenges, and the Abu Dhabi-Heathrow route now appears to be another casualty of the ongoing issues.
