Rey Mysterio Sr, Wrestling Legend and Uncle of WWE Star, Dies at 66

Rey Mysterio Sr, a legendary figure in Mexico’s lucha libre wrestling, has sadly passed away at the age of 66. Known as the uncle of the famous wrestler Rey Mysterio Jr, his death was reported on December 20 by various media outlets.

The wrestling icon achieved immense success, winning multiple championship titles with the World Wrestling Association and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, earning him a lasting legacy in the wrestling world.

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, often considered the Mexican equivalent of WWE, paid tribute in a heartfelt post:

“We regret the sensitive death of Miguel Ángel López Díaz, known as Rey Mysterio Sr. We send our most sincere condolences to his loved ones and raise our prayers to heaven for his eternal rest.”

Rey Mysterio Sr’s fame extended far beyond Mexico. His performances in high-profile events, such as Championship Wrestling’s Starrcade in 1990, showcased his incredible talent to audiences worldwide.
