The death toll from Cyclone Chido in northern Mozambique has tragically risen to 76, with nearly 62,000 homes reported destroyed in the Cabo Delgado province. The cyclone struck suddenly, leading to severe flooding, landslides, and extensive damage to infrastructure. Authorities have cautioned that the casualty numbers may rise as search-and-rescue operations are still ongoing.

The cyclone has rendered thousands homeless, leaving many in urgent need of assistance. Displaced individuals are currently residing in temporary shelters, facing challenges in accessing food, water, and medical supplies. Local authorities, along with humanitarian organizations, are tirelessly working to provide aid to those impacted.

Mozambican officials are in the process of evaluating the full extent of the destruction caused by Cyclone Chido. Emergency teams are being dispatched to the hardest-hit areas to assist with recovery efforts. The government has also sought international support to address the aftermath of the storm and aid in rebuilding efforts.

Given the overwhelming scale of the destruction, there is an urgent call for international assistance to support Mozambique during this critical time. Relief organizations are mobilizing to send supplies, while the government is concentrating on long-term rebuilding initiatives to restore affected communities. The situation following the cyclone continues to develop, and the nation remains under a state of emergency.
