UAE Golfers Shine Bright After GCC Golf Championships 2024 Victory

Team UAE showcased an incredible performance at the GCC Golf Championships 2024, held at Ghala Golf Club in Muscat, Oman. The team secured a stunning eight medals, including four golds across various divisions, further solidifying their position as a dominant force in regional golf.

The highlight of their success was a clean sweep in the Ladies’ and Girls’ Under-16 divisions, where UAE players claimed seven podium finishes, reaffirming their status as the region’s golfing powerhouse.

Stellar Wins by UAE Ladies’ Team

The UAE Ladies’ Team delivered an outstanding performance, winning gold in the team category. They also dominated the individual rankings, claiming all three top positions.

  • Lara Al Chaib led the charge with rounds of 72, 77, and a closing 71, earning the individual gold medal.
  • Intissar Rich followed with a strong performance, securing the silver medal.
  • Faye Alblooshi rounded out the all-UAE podium with a bronze medal finish.

Girls’ U-16: Rising Stars Shine

In the Girls’ U-16 category, UAE’s players were untouchable.

  • Anca Mateiu, a rising star, delivered a tournament-best round of 67 to finish with a total of 213, earning the gold medal.
  • Sara Abubaker closely followed with rounds of 74, 75, and 71, taking the silver medal.

The UAE team also claimed gold in the Girls’ U-16 team category, with Saudi Arabia and Oman taking silver and bronze, respectively.

Team UAE Dominates Across Divisions

Competing against strong teams from Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, Team UAE showcased their depth and talent across seven competitive divisions for both male and female players.

General Abdullah Alhashmi, Vice-Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, commended the team’s exceptional performance:

“We are thrilled with the outstanding achievements of Team UAE, securing eight podium finishes in Oman. Competing with our GCC neighbors is always challenging yet rewarding, especially across all age groups. This success reflects our players’ dedication and sets a solid foundation for an even brighter 2025.”
