Brazil and Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr stole the spotlight at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards on Friday, where he was named the Best Men’s Player.
The event, held in the stunning Palm Jumeirah, brought together some of the biggest names in football. Vinicius capped off an incredible year by adding this prestigious award to his collection, having already won the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year earlier this month.
While he narrowly missed out on the Ballon d’Or, which went to Manchester City star Rodri, Vinicius’s achievements this year have been nothing short of remarkable. He scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists in 39 matches, playing a key role in Real Madrid’s success in both La Liga and the Champions League.
Vinicius helped secure his third La Liga title in May and played a vital role in Real Madrid’s second Champions League victory of his career, as they defeated Borussia Dortmund in June. He was also the team’s top scorer in the Champions League, netting six goals.
Speaking after the ceremony, Vinicius expressed his gratitude:
“It’s an honor to stand alongside Ronaldo and Neymar my idols. I am so happy with everything I’ve achieved at Real Madrid. I also want to thank Flamengo and the Brazilian national team for their constant support.”
Other Big Winners at the Event
The night also celebrated other football greats:
Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal and Al Nassr star, was honored as the all-time top scorer with 916 goals and named the Best Middle East Player of 2024.
Ronaldo shared his excitement:
“Winning this award feels special. With so many champions and legends here, it motivates me to keep going. Even as I turn 40 soon, I’m not done yet, I still want to be a champion.”
Jude Bellingham, the England and Real Madrid midfielder, won the Best Midfielder and the Maradona Award for his outstanding performances.
Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal was recognized as the Best Emerging Player.
Additionally, Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti was named Coach of the Year, adding another win for the club.
A Memorable Night in Dubai
The awards were presented by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid in a grand ceremony at Atlantis, The Palm, marking another incredible night for football and its brightest stars.
