Tennis star Jannik Sinner will have his appeal in a doping case heard in April

Italian tennis sensation Jannik Sinner is set to appear before a sports court in April for an appeal hearing over his doping case. Initially, Sinner had faced allegations after two positive tests for the banned steroid clostebol last year, but the International Tennis Integrity Agency cleared him of all wrongdoings. However, the appeal hearing marks a critical juncture in his career for the 22-year-old who is looking forward to fully settling the matter and moving on in his professional career.

Clostebol had been detected positively, and thus the ITIA-the body tasked with maintaining integrity in tennis-called for an investigation. After much scrutiny, it was found that Sinner had nothing to do with the doping violation, as this was not a case of his intention. Despite ITIA’s judgment, the case is now heading to a hearing in April when more legal attention will be sought.

Sinner’s lawyers say they are very optimistic that an appeal will mean the final ruling will be to his favor and exonerate him of guilt. The determination of this hearing will not only impact Sinner’s reputation but also the much wider debate surrounding anti-doping policies in tennis.

The world has to wait a little longer before the case’s conclusion as Sinner gets set to go back to the courts and keep scaling the ATP ranking. Fans of the young sensation and the entire tennis fraternity, therefore, will be praying for the appeal case to mark the close of the chapter, leaving room for this kid to move to his next performances.
