Study Reveals Growing Trend of ‘Sleepcations’ Among UAE, GCC Residents

Recent findings showed that more people in the UAE and GCC now go for what is called ‘sleepcations’ to cope with the problem of burnout that is sweeping across the globe. The trend of ‘sleep-cations’, or taking days off to strictly sleep and relax, has caught the fancy of sleep-deprived and mentally drained people.

1. Levels of Sleep Deprivation in the Region:
This has been a staggering 24% of GCC residents who have stated that they never sleep for more than six hours at night, which clearly emphasizes the sleep deprivation issue faced by the majority of the people in the region. Due to increased work pressures and hectic schedules, most are now seeking help through sleep-centric vacations to recover their energy and bring about a well-being improvement in their lives.

2. Emergence of Sleepcations in UAE and GCC:
As a result of this sleep deficit, a growing number of people in the UAE and GCC are prioritizing rest during their vacations. Sleepcations typically involve staying in accommodations that offer serene environments, sleep-promoting amenities, and professional services such as sleep therapists or wellness packages aimed at enhancing sleep quality.

3. The Benefits of Sleepcations:
These have many benefits: improved mental clarity, reduced stress levels, and better overall health. Experts observe that proper sleep is important for cognitive function, emotional well-being, and productivity. Rest during a trip could help individuals feel more energized and balanced once they return to their daily lives.

4. Rising Popularity and Future Prospects:
The rise of sleep-cations reflects a broader cultural shift toward the prioritization of mental health and wellness in the region. As the trend grows, more destinations and resorts in the UAE and GCC will likely be specializing in services to cater to individuals looking for ways to relax and rejuvenate. Travel could soon include more wellness-focused getaways, offering not only exploration but restoration, too.

The study findings indicate the growing significance of sleep and recovery in the lives of UAE and GCC residents, and the trend of sleep-cations is a great solution for those who are dealing with burnout.
