TikTok rejects sale to Elon Musk’s X as ‘complete fiction’

TikTok has dismissed talk of a potential sale to Elon Musk’s X platform, stating the reports “are pure fiction.” The move comes amid an increasing scrutiny over the app’s operations in the U.S. owing to geopolitical pressures and growing pressure from regulators.

The claim linked Musk, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, to a possible acquisition aimed at bolstering X’s influence in social media. However, TikTok spokespersons have categorically denied any discussions or intentions to sell, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining operations as an independent platform.

Musk, whose business activities have already made headlines and substantially influenced Washington, did not say anything about the rumors. Analysts believe this could be because of increased political debates on the ownership of TikTok by the Chinese company ByteDance.

TikTok focuses on global outreach despite dismissing the unfounded claims, calling them distractions. The company emphasized its commitment to creating a safe, fun experience for users around the world.
