Kuwaiti authorities said they discovered the large citizenship scam, resulting in the withdrawal of citizenship rights of 74. The false list included dozens as children and grandchildren of the same Kuwaiti.
This led to the exposure of fraud during the extensive investigation done by the Ministry of Interior where it found the fabricated family ties used to gain citizenship illegally. This has led to the uncovering of loopholes in Kuwait’s legal and administrative systems relating to citizenship registration.
Kuwait grants citizenship selectively, and the citizens enjoy great benefits, such as health care, education, and financial allowances. Due to this, citizenship scams have become a pressing issue, and the authorities have had to strengthen measures against such fraudulent activities.
This latest bust confirms Kuwait’s promise to protect its citizenship system. Officials have made a vow that those involved would be held responsible and have, in fact tightened verification processes as a measure for preventing similar scams in the future.
