Prince Harry Wins Settlement Against Murdoch’s UK Tabloids Over Phone Hacking

Prince Harry has reached a settlement with Rupert Murdoch’s UK newspaper group in his lawsuit over the hacking of his phone. The group has issued a public apology and agreed to pay the Duke of Sussex “substantial damages” for their illegal actions.

The lawsuit stemmed from allegations that journalists working for Murdoch’s tabloids had hacked Harry’s voicemail to gain access to private information. The Duke argued that the unlawful surveillance caused significant distress and constituted a gross invasion of his privacy.

A spokesperson for the media group acknowledged the wrongdoing, stating, “We deeply regret the actions of our employees at the time and offer our sincere apologies to Prince Harry.” The group has also committed to reviewing and enhancing its editorial practices to prevent future violations.

This settlement marks a significant victory for the Duke, who has been vocal about the media’s intrusion into his personal life. Legal experts believe the case could encourage others affected by similar practices to come forward and seek justice.
