One of the significant environmental initiatives Dubai Municipality has undertaken is the planting of 216,500 trees across the city, to ramp up greenery as well as improve the urban ecosystem. The number of trees consists of neem, olive, and Indian jasmine, among others, for their resilience and aesthetic value that shall improve the environment and make Dubai a much more beautiful and sustainable place for the residents and visitors.
As part of the wider Dubai Green Project, which will add 65 new beautification projects to increase green areas within the city, mass tree-planting is another initiative towards developing parks, public gardens, and green corridors to further express the commitment of the city towards sustainability and environmental consciousness. Green spaces are going to enhance the air quality of the city, reduce urban heat, and provide recreation spaces for Dubai’s increasing population.
The Dubai Green Project further, is in alignment with the UAE’s much larger vision of promoting sustainability and combating climate change. While enhancing its green infrastructure will make the city, simply beautifully beautiful for its citizens, to some extent, it also will contribute to much broader global goals.
With these completed projects, the skyline of Dubai will be enriched by a developing, green cityscape that enhances a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle. Throughout the implementation, residents and tourists alike will live in a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Dubai.
