Patrick Reed Advocates for More Game Time Outside Golf Majors

Former Masters winner Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters winner, is pleading with professional golfers to engage in more tournament action outside high-profile events. He is indeed putting his mouth where his money is as he tees up for the first time at this week’s Bahrain Championship, a demonstration of his solidarity with the notion of increasing access to the sport.

Reed believes that playing beyond marquee tournaments doesn’t only make the golfers competitive but also adds to the growth of the sport as it heads into new golfing destinations. With the Bahrain Championship, hopes are high to inspire local talent and bring international attention to developing golf circuits.

The game of golf is bigger than just majors and high-profile events,” Reed said. “Playing in other parts of the world allows us to grow the sport, engage with new fans, and challenge ourselves in unique conditions.

With more elite golfers wanting to participate in several tournaments all around the globe, Reed’s statements may redefine how professional golf presents itself with much more diversity on the horizon: a new globally inclusive form that is closer in nature and identity to most individuals.
