Parents and guardians in Kuwait will no longer be allowed to leave children below 10 years old alone in a parked car without facing a major penalty. The country has meted out a KD 500 fine and possible imprisonment on such crimes, labeling the crime as a traffic violation to strengthen child safety amid apparent heat-related deaths and accidents.
Kuwait’s harsh climate and rising cases of child endangerment prompted authorities to take action. Even a short time in a parked car can put children at a serious risk of suffocation, heatstroke, and accidents.

Legal Consequences
Fine: Up to 500 Kuwaiti dinars.
Jail term: Possible imprisonment.
Traffic violation classification makes enforcement stricter.

Public Awareness & Parental Responsibility
Parents are urged to be more careful, as inaction can kill. An educational campaign targeting guardians is a part of this initiative, urging them to recall the risks involved in leaving the child alone.

Final Word
This law sends a strong message about child safety, ensuring that reckless behavior is met with serious repercussions. Parents are advised to always take their children with them or arrange proper supervision.
