Iran announced it is closing schools and government offices in 10 provinces due to an intense cold snap that gripped the country and caused mass disruptions. Severe winter weather conditions have forced transportation routes in 25 of Iran’s 31 provinces to grind to a halt, especially in the north and west. Authorities are warning people to prepare as temperatures plummet.

Heavy snowfall, icy roads, and freezing winds have led to travel disruptions, forcing authorities to shut down major highways and mountain passes. In several areas, power outages have been reported due to the extreme weather, adding to the challenges faced by residents. Emergency services have been deployed to assist those stranded due to blocked roads and transportation breakdowns.

The government has advised citizens to stay indoors and limit travel unless absolutely necessary. Weather experts predict that the cold wave will persist for several more days, with some regions experiencing record-low temperatures. The closures aim to reduce risks for students and employees as authorities work to manage the crisis.

As Iran battles the extreme winter conditions, officials are focusing on restoring essential services and ensuring relief efforts reach affected communities. Meanwhile, the public has been urged to follow safety advisories and prepare for ongoing disruptions. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, with further updates expected as conditions evolve.
