Former India skipper and great spinner Anil Kumble has asked for tough selection choices after India’s show in the Champions Trophy, underlining the importance of injecting young blood before the 2027 World Cup.

Kumble emphasized that even though India has a strong team, the team management has to spot and support upcoming players so that they receive sufficient international exposure prior to the next major tournament. He feels developing young cricketers early will make India competitive at the international level.

Talking about India’s present team balance, the former spinner identified that transitioning veterans without losing a winning combination is key. He also emphasized long-term thinking, calling selectors to concentrate on a well-balanced combination of youth and experience.

With India aiming for another ICC trophy, Kumble’s advice is with the increasing cries for strategic team shuffle, making the next batch of Indian cricketers prepared to deliver when called upon.
