Proteas cruise to victory as Rickelton’s ton, bowlers dismantle Afghan lineup. South Africa left their mark on the Champions Trophy in commanding style as they trounced Afghanistan courtesy of inspired hundred by Ryan Rickelton. The left-hand batsman established his class by posting a 106-ball 103 consisting of seven fours and one six while piloting South Africa’s pursuit in domineering fashion.

Afghanistan, though promising a good start, faltered against South Africa’s bowling attack, which was disciplined. The bowlers of the Proteas kept things tight, taking key wickets at regular intervals and never giving the Afghan batsmen any chance to settle. The team was ultimately bowled out for a sub-par score, giving South Africa a comfortable chase.

Rickelton’s knock set the ideal platform for South Africa’s chase, with the assistance of seasoned middle-order batsmen ensuring that there were no bumps in the run chase. His carefully timed innings was a blend of caution and aggression, which proved instrumental in clinching the victory.

With this thumping victory, South Africa now reinforces its position in the tournament, whereas Afghanistan has an uphill struggle on its hand if it is to remain in contention.
