The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has implemented free Wi-Fi facilities across 17 public bus stations and 12 marine transport stations through collaboration with e& (Etisalat). This service provides for an upgraded traveling experience that allows passengers to remain connected to the internet through their smartphones, tablets, and laptops during commutes.
Khaled AbdulRahman Al Awadhi, Public Transport Agency’s Director of Transportation Systems at RTA, revealed that work is progressing to introduce the service at all 43 RTA stations comprising 21 bus stations and 22 marine transport stations. The rest of the installations will be finished in the second quarter of 2025.
This initiative is one of RTA’s strategic moves to speed up digital transformation in its services in line with the UAE’s vision to become a global innovation leader. Through offering free Wi-Fi, RTA seeks to enhance daily commutes as more enjoyable and productive experiences, helping Dubai become the world’s smartest and happiest city.
RTA intends to continue to assess and improve the Wi-Fi service together with e&, providing high-quality connectivity to all the passengers on bus and maritime transport throughout the emirate.
