UAE Moonsighting Committee Confirms Beginning of Ramadan 2025

The UAE Moonsighting Committee has officially announced the beginning of Ramadan 2025, which is the commencement of the sacred month of Ramadan. The first crescent moon was seen on Friday, February 28, so Saturday, March 1, will be the first fasting day for Muslims throughout the country.

Ramadan, the ninth Islamic month, is a period of spiritual reflection, fasting, and devotion. Muslims during the month will have daily fasts from sunrise to sunset, attend extra prayers (Taraweeh), and emphasis on acts of kindness and charity. The UAE government has also shifted working hours for the convenience of fasting people.

The declaration of Ramadan’s beginning was done after conventional Islamic moon-sighting protocols, which depend on sight of the new moon. The announcement brings the UAE in line with other Gulf countries celebrating the holy month. With the nation getting ready for a time of faith, family reunions, and community participation, authorities have called on residents to accept the spirit of Ramadan with tolerance, kindness, and harmony.

In this instance, UAE leaders have wished the country and the global Muslim community a blessed and peaceful Ramadan, extending their heartfelt greetings to one and all.
