Preparation for Ramadan 2025 saw Saudi Railways launching an upgrade of the Haramain high-speed train service to cater for the increasing numbers of pilgrims and visitors. The expansion is expected to increase the comfort and efficiency of travel between the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, providing an uninterrupted transportation service during the holy month.

With increased capacity and more trips, the Haramain train will give pilgrims a faster, more comfortable, and dependable means of transportation, relieving road traffic and allowing Umrah performers and visitors to arrive in a timely fashion. The Kingdom’s railway system is central to its efforts towards better services for the faithful.

The high-speed rail service is a central component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to create sustainable transportation solutions for religious tourism. The expansion is in line with the Kingdom’s initiatives to improve pilgrim experiences while upholding the highest safety and operational standards.

With Ramadan around the corner, authorities are still rolling out measures to ensure easy travel and movement to the Two Holy Mosques. The upgraded Haramain train service will go a long way toward an easy pilgrimage experience, enabling more pilgrims to spend Ramadan hassle-free.
