Riyadh Metro Expands Ramadan Timings, Operating Until 3 AM on Fridays

As part of boosting travel demand during Ramadan, Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Metro has said it will run until 3 AM on Fridays. The move is aimed at assisting worshippers, late-night travelers, and Ramadan shoppers to make it easy for them to use the transportation system during the holy month.

The Riyadh Metro and public bus network will adjust schedules to align with Ramadan’s lifestyle shift, as many locals stay out past late hours praying, socializing, and holding suhoor (pre-prayer meal). The authorities ensured that the later services will provide high security and efficiency rates, ensuring efficient travel throughout the city.

The move is one of Saudi Arabia’s wider plans to make public transportation more accessible during peak religious and cultural times. By providing late-night bus and metro services, Riyadh hopes to relieve congestion and give residents a convenient alternative to private means, decongesting major roads.

With the longer hours operational, visitors and commuters are urged to schedule their travels accordingly, maximizing the improved public transport services. As Ramadan goes on, additional changes might be made to provide seamless travel experiences throughout the capital.
