As Ramadan 2025 is drawing near, UAE residents are likely to witness some changes in day-to-day timings, such as shorter working hours, modifications in public transport schedules, and complimentary parking during Iftar times. These are put in place to cater to fasting people and promote convenience during the holy month.
Work Timings:
Private sector workers will enjoy two hours of shortened work per day, as ordered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). Government offices and public sector workers will also work a shorter day, usually from 9 AM to 2:30 PM, although precise times may differ according to department.
Parking & Transportation:
Most emirates, such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, will provide free public parking from Iftar timings, which typically are from 6 PM to 8 PM. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) also promises to announce revised metro, bus, and tram timings to fit in with the additional evening traffic of citizens.
School & Business Hours:
Schools will have shorter days, with 4 to 5 hours a day being the standard length of most classes. Shopping malls, restaurants, and supermarkets will have longer operating hours, operating late in the evening to accommodate shoppers for Iftar and Suhoor.
Public Services & Healthcare:
Hospitals and clinics will change consultation timings so that fasting and non-fasting patients are treated equally. Vital government services will also have changed timings, while online services will be fully functional.
