The Dubai Police have unveiled AI-enabled radars with the ability to detect a myriad of traffic offenses with pinpoint accuracy. These high-tech devices are meant to boost road safety by detecting such offenses as speeding, tailgating, aggressive driving, and seatbelt neglect.

The authorities have outlined the fines for each of the offenses. For example, driving 20 km/h over the speed limit is punishable by a Dh300 fine, while serious offenses like running a red light can attract a fine of up to Dh50,000 and the impoundment of the vehicle.

AI-based radars provide 24/7 surveillance, minimizing human error in enforcement. Contrary to speed cameras, these intelligent radars monitor driver behavior in real-time, similar to a keenly observant patrol officer with a perfect memory, ensuring that each rule-breaker is caught and penalized.”.

Dubai Police call on drivers to obey traffic rules to avoid fines and ensure road safety. Using AI technology, the emirate is making a great leap toward reducing accidents and improving the smoothness of traffic flow for all vehicles.
