Kuwait Bans Commercial Advertisements in Mosques to Maintain Sanctity

In a bold attempt to maintain religious principles, Kuwait has officially banned commercial advertisements within mosques. The move follows a fatwa stressing the sanctity of mosques, banning their utilization for profit-oriented purposes. Officials argued that places of worship should be kept focused on prayer, religious education, and spiritual direction, free of any commercial encumbrance.

The ruling solidifies Kuwait’s determination to uphold the sanctity of mosques and prevent them from being used for making money. Religious experts and officials received the ruling warmly, saying that if advertisements were permitted, this might distract congregants and undermine the ultimate reason why these facilities are being occupied. The administration also cautioned that any breach of this rule will incur penalties.

This prohibition is part of a larger push to regulate business activities within religious premises and keep them spiritually relevant. Through this move, Kuwait seeks to uphold the sanctity of its mosques while creating a precedent for similar measures in other Islamic countries.
