Varanasi Celebrates Holi with Colors and Music

Varanasi, India’s ancient and holy city, was brought alive with colors, music, and piety as Holi festivities commenced. The ghats and streets of the city were abuzz with happy celebrants, clad in shades of gulal (colored powder), as traditional folk songs and hymns filled the air.

Varanasi Holi is not only a celebration but a cultural and spiritual showpiece. The devotees came to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to acquire blessings prior to being a part of the vibrant processions. The procession also featured a blend of classical dance and music performances, something that has its deep roots in the city’s tradition.

One of the highlights was the famous Godowlia Holi, where locals and visitors alike participated in fun-filled color-smearing, symbolizing togetherness and happiness. Sweets such as gujiya and malpua were distributed among friends and families, adding sweetness to the festival spirit.

While Varanasi maintains its age-old traditions, the festival reminds us of the victory of good over evil and the strength of unitedness and love.
