The Grand Mosque in Mecca has seen a record 25 million pilgrims in the first ten days of Ramadan 2025, the largest attendance in history. Pilgrims and worshippers from all over the globe have descended upon the sacred place, resulting in a huge increase in services and facilities to cater to the increasing numbers.

For a comfortable and secure experience, authorities have put in place sophisticated crowd management systems, such as real-time monitoring, supplementary prayer rooms, and more security officers. The mosque’s maintenance and cleaning staff work day and night, providing a hassle-free religious experience for people.

The increase in pilgrims also coincides with improvements in transportation facilities such as the Haramain High-Speed Railway and shuttle buses, which improved flow of access to the holy site. Increased tawaf (circumambulation) space and special lanes for senior citizens and differently-abled citizens have also complemented the enhanced flow of pilgrims.

Authorities continue to evaluate crowd control measures, highlighting safety and ease of access over the last few days of Ramadan. With another million or so anticipated, Mecca is hosting a record Ramadan season, capturing the religious dedication of Muslims everywhere.
