Former US President Donald Trump has denied a recent New York Times report that Elon Musk will be briefed on secret China war plans. Trump called the reports unfounded, stating that “China will not even be mentioned or discussed” in any such meetings.
The NYT article had posited that Musk, with increasing power in the space and defense industries through endeavors such as SpaceX and Starlink, might be drawn into sensitive conversations with regards to possible military strategies against China. Trump flatly denied the reports.
Trump attacked the media for disseminating disinformation in a statement on social media, underlining that no such military briefings with Musk are planned. He added that issues concerning China’s military will continue to be under tight government control.
The report has generated wide controversy considering Musk’s singular status in both national defense interests and technological innovation. The White House, however, has remained tight-lipped about the issue, with speculation being rife among political and defense experts.
