Saudi Arabia has confirmed that over 3 million pilgrims passed through its airports during Ramadan, highlighting the Kingdom as a leading center for religious tourism during the holy month. Of these, about 2.4 million passengers took international flights, which shows the large number of worshippers from all over the world.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) established that major airports like King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah received the lion’s share of the passenger flow. Special facilities were arranged for the arrival and departure of the pilgrims, such as deploying additional staff and streamlined immigration facilities.

The authorities commended the airport staff and security personnel who toiled day and night to make passengers comfortable and secure. Pilgrims coming for Umrah were greeted with improved services such as special prayer facilities, expedited customs clearance, and more transport facilities.

As Ramadan ends, Saudi Arabia anticipates travelers increasing further since pilgrims still flock in to catch the final days and the Eid celebrations. GACA recommended passengers to plan and follow travel warnings to get a smooth journey.
