More than one million pilgrims availed themselves of electric and hand-carrying cart services offered in Mecca’s Grand Mosque throughout Ramadan to provide comfort while walking. There was a record of 57,000 recipients of the cart services in a night on Ramadan 27.

The cart service, which catered to the elderly and the mobility-impaired, was important in facilitating accessibility within the Grand Mosque. With designated routes and structured operations, the service facilitated a seamless pilgrimage experience amidst the influx of devotees.

Saudi authorities extended more carts and manpower to keep up with the unprecedented demand, affirming their determination to serve pilgrims seamless services. Optional advanced bookings and specific areas optimized the process and eased congestion.

While Ramadan saw a huge number of pilgrims, the success of the cart service indicated Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to make the experience of all pilgrims to the holy place as comfortable and spiritually rewarding as possible.
