Employing a Domestic Worker in UAE? Learn How You Can Get a Refund

Residents of the UAE who wish to employ domestic workers need to know about four particular situations in which they are eligible for a recruitment fee refund. The UAE authorities have specified these conditions to maintain ethical hiring practices and safeguard both employers and employees.

Refund can be sought if the domestic worker refuses to work, does not pass medical tests, quits the job without notice, or does not possess the agreed skillset. These steps are part of continued attempts to regulate the domestic worker recruitment industry and ensure transparency.

To ensure compliance, UAE authorities have taken tough measures against 36 domestic worker recruiting agencies for disregarding labor regulations. These recruiting agencies will suffer heavy penalties such as fines and potential suspension of operations.

Homeowners who recruit domestic workers are advised to confirm agency credentials and ensure that agreements adhere to the legal protections. The UAE government continues to implement improved labor regulations, promoting a fair deal between employers and workers.
