UAE Issues Dh3,000 Penalty to Drivers Who Refuse to Give Way to Emergency Vehicles

UAE drivers have been issued a wake-up call by the authorities: refuse to give way to emergency vehicles and you will pay the price. A heavy Dh3,000 fine, six traffic points, and a 30-day vehicle confiscation are in store for those who obstruct or hinder ambulances, fire trucks, or police cars during an emergency.

In a recent crackdown, 325 drivers were penalized for this offense, highlighting the nation’s dedication to making emergency response quick and unobstructed. Authorities emphasized that such irresponsible driving not only violates the law but also puts lives at risk by causing essential services to be delayed in reaching those in immediate need.

Authorities have asked motorists to remain vigilant, particularly in the event of hearing sirens or seeing emergency lights. Visible signage, publicity campaigns, and real-time surveillance systems have been implemented to enhance compliance and curb violations.

The UAE’s zero-tolerance policy is all part of the overarching drive to improve road safety and reinforce a culture of accountability. Citizens are being reminded that compliance with emergency services isn’t voluntary—it’s a civic obligation that could be the difference between life and death.
