Umar Gul Targets Bangladesh Coaching Position Amid Elite Rivalry

Former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul is in negotiations with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the role of pace bowling coach, according to reports. Famous for his deadly Yorkers and death-over skills, Gul has experience as well as strategic knowledge to offer.

He is part of a competitive shortlist which comprises veteran South African great Allan Donald, Australian bowler Shaun Tait, and veteran coach Ottis Gibson—all of whom boast considerable international credentials. The last person to make the cut will be important as Bangladesh seeks to develop a better pace battery leading into a full international schedule.

Gul has worked with Pakistan’s national team and different franchises in T20 leagues in the past and earned coaching credibility through his composed nature and profound knowledge of fast bowling mechanics. His increasing reputation as a coach makes him a strong contender.

The BCB is likely to take a final call soon, with the new recruit set to join duties before Bangladesh’s next Test and ODI obligations.
