10 Million Saudis Receive Monthly Aid as State Support Crosses SR238 Billion

Since initiating its social support programme in 2017, Saudi Arabia has handed out a whopping SR238 billion of financial assistance, benefitting 10 million citizens every month. The programme, designed to support low- and middle-income families cope with economic reforms and inflation, continues to be one of the major pillars in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 agenda.

The government’s cash support is provided in the guise of monthly cash transfers, which are contingent on family size, income levels, and economic requirements. The scheme has increased substantially over time, responding to inflationary pressure and fluctuations in the global markets, including higher energy and food prices.

The officials highlighted the continued support reflects the Kingdom’s dedication to economic equality and guarding the vulnerable population against shocks at periods of change within the economy. Over recent years, the scheme has added digital access to it so that citizens may monitor payment and eligibility through specialist government applications.

With ongoing budgetary reforms coupled with an emphasis on diversification, Saudi Arabia seems set to sustain and, perhaps, build on its welfare infrastructure, and see millions remain the beneficiaries of the Kingdom’s increasing economic fortune.
