Dubai Airport Prepares for Weekend Rush as Emirates Warns Travellers

Dubai carrier Emirates has made a timely warning as more than 300,000 passengers are anticipated to pass through Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 from April 18 to 21. The travel rush is ahead of the weekend and coincides with regional school holidays and Eid holiday return traffic, making it important for authorities to alert travellers to prepare in advance.

To decongest and prevent delays, Emirates is urging travellers to report at least three hours prior to flight departure time. Passengers have access to online check-in facilities 48 hours in advance of their flight, and use city check-in facilities located at Ajman and ICD Brookfield in DIFC. These services provide convenient drop-off and check-in facilities to minimize airport queues.

Boarding is to be enforced rigorously, with gates closing 20 minutes prior to flight departure. Economy travellers should report at the gate 60 minutes before their flight, while First and Business Class passengers should report 45 minutes prior. All passengers need to pass through immigration and security at least 90 minutes prior to departure to achieve smooth boarding.

With biometric gates, more staff, and self-service facilities available, Emirates is striving to make the experience smoother. Emirates also recommends double-checking travel documents and baggage regulations. This recommendation acts as a reminder of expecting crowds, planning ahead, and flying smart.
