Sharjah’s award-winning travelling exhibition, Folktales Reimagined, opened in Morocco and wowed the crowds at Rabat’s National Library. Opened by Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, the Moroccan iteration introduces a new wave of cultural exchange and literary celebration to North Africa. The exhibition is a bridge between Arab heritage and contemporary storytelling.

Hosted by the UAE’s House of Wisdom, the exhibition presents reimagined stories from throughout the Arab world, marrying classical motifs with modern artistic expression. People are welcomed into an immersive experience of folktales via illustrations, interactive installations, and carefully curated stories that commemorate local identities.

Sheikha Bodour stressed the need for the protection and re-imagining of cultural tales in a globalized context, commenting that the exhibitions stimulate intergenerational and intercultural dialogue. The project also reaffirms Sharjah’s position as a global center of culture dedicated to literature and art excellence.

The Folktales Reimagined show will tour additional locations, following its aim to highlight the energy of storytelling. In Morocco, it has already fueled debates about cultural memory, imagination, and literature’s place in the construction of identity.
