A reported 400,000 mourners came to pay their respects at Pope Francis’s tomb, one of the largest funerals in recent history. The massive turnout highlighted the immense affection, admiration, and respect millions across the globe had for the spiritual leader during his papacy.

The ceremony, replete with moving prayers, hymns, and moments of silent contemplation, was a befitting send-off for a pope remembered for his humility, compassion, and dedication to social justice. Pilgrims from all over continents journeyed to Vatican City, going through long queues and tearful throngs to pay their respects to his legacy.

World leaders and religious leaders from different faiths attended the funeral, underscoring Pope Francis’s position as a bridge-builder not only within Christianity but among global communities. His relentless advocacy for the poor, the vulnerable, and the environment left an unerasable footprint in history.

As the crowds of visitors keep pouring in to the tomb during the days after the funeral, the mood is still serious but also optimistic. Pope Francis’s teachings and his own example are believed by many to keep inspiring generations to come towards a kinder, more inclusive, and sustainable world.
