Saudi Arabia Confiscates 1.5 Million Captagon Tablets, Three Caught

In a historic narcotics smuggling crack-down, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) of Saudi Arabia revealed the seizure of 1.5 million Captagon pills at the country’s Jeddah Islamic Port. The capsules were skillfully hidden in the cavities inside a shipment in what seemed like an effort to evade customs check.

The raid was executed in cooperation with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, highlighting the vigilance of the authorities and their intensified screening procedures. The suspicious container was intercepted and intensely inspected, resulting in the seizure of the enormous stockpile of the prohibited amphetamine-type drug.

Three suspects involved in the attempted smuggling have been detained and are being investigated. Their identities were not released, but they have confirmed that legal action is being taken according to the Kingdom’s stringent anti-narcotics legislation.

Saudi Arabia has stepped up efforts to prevent drug trafficking across its ports, specifically Captagon, which is increasingly becoming a threat in the country. The Kingdom continues to invest in cutting-edge inspection systems and global cooperation to fight organized drug crime and keep its citizens safe.
