Former India pacer S Sreesanth has strongly refuted receiving any official notification from the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) about his alleged three-year suspension. The maverick cricketer, whose career has been marred by controversy on and off the field, says he came to know about the disciplinary action only through media reports, not from the KCA directly.
Sreesanth was shocked by the suspension and termed it “unjustified” and “arbitrary,” especially as he had not been offered an opportunity to defend himself. “How can they suspend me without sending a formal notice or holding a proper hearing?” he asked the media in a statement.
The KCA is said to have made the move after allegations of indiscipline and misconduct during a recent Kerala local tournament. Sreesanth, however, insists he has been working diligently since to develop cricket in Kerala and denies the move is anything but politically motivated. The charges are unfounded and part of a smear campaign to ruin his reputation, he added.
Promising to take the legal battle forward, Sreesanth claimed he has already consulted with his lawyers to fight the suspension in court. “This isn’t about me — it’s about justice and due process. I will not take this lying down,” he declared, indicating another chapter in his tumultuous but gritty cricketing career.
