The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) also reported that the wind speeds had reached a high of 45 km/h in certain regions, picking up loose sand and debris. Hazy skies and dusty weather had been experienced by a number of regions, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah, leading to warnings for motorists and pedestrians. Visibility has plummeted in open spaces, increasing the danger of accidents on the road.
Coastal regions are facing especially turbulent seas, with waves up to 7 feet high in certain areas of the Arabian Gulf. Fishermen and beachcombers have been told to avoid shorelines until conditions return to normal. Flights could also face delays or diversion because of low visibility and air turbulence.
The unsettled weather is forecast to persist through the next 24 to 48 hours before improving gradually after that.
