India’s top low-cost carrier, IndiGo, has introduced new direct flights from Fujairah International Airport to two of India’s key cities—Kozhikode (Calicut) in Kerala and Hyderabad. This is a milestone, as Fujairah becomes IndiGo’s fifth operational base in the UAE, after Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah.
The introduction is part of IndiGo’s consistent efforts to enhance regional connectivity and serve the vast Indian expatriate community in the UAE, particularly the Northern Emirates. The direct services will be more convenient and affordable for travellers, further boosting tourism and trade relations between the two countries.
Flights are anticipated to fly a few times a week, at competitive fares and with simplified booking on IndiGo’s website and mobile app. The carrier also emphasized the plan to ramp up frequency depending on demand, particularly leading up to the summer travel peak and Eid al-Adha holidays.
Both Fujairah Airport and IndiGo officials were upbeat regarding future collaborations, as this development is part of India-UAE aviation cooperation plans. Air travelers have reason to look forward to hassle-free check-ins, in-flight comfort, and punctual arrivals, which will further increase IndiGo’s popularity in the UAE.
