India-Pakistan tensions have exploded exponentially, and both countries being involved in retaliation military operations amid a string of fatal cross-border attacks. The military of Pakistan asserted that they had killed between 40 to 50 Indian soldiers in the recent attacks, prompting an India retaliatory drive against Pakistani air defence systems.

The rising tensions started following the Pahalgam attack, which India blamed on Pakistani-sponsored factions. India responded by carrying out precision missile attacks in various sites in Pakistan, one of the most serious flare-ups since 2019. Military analysts caution that the scope and speed of operations have the potential to escalate into a wider regional conflict if diplomatic mechanisms are not promptly engaged.

Pakistan’s senior military and civilian leadership met in an emergency session, exercising their right to retaliate with “full force at a time and place of their choosing.” Islamabad’s foreign office also appealed to the international community to intervene and de-escalate the situation so that a humanitarian crisis can be averted.

The recent escalations have instigated airspace restrictions, flight cancellations, and tightened border security on both countries. World powers like the United States and China have condemned the situation calling for restraint while civilians on either side prepare for more instability following increasing war jitters.
