Actor Harshvardhan Rane has publicly stated that he will be quitting the upcoming sequel, Sanam Teri Kasam 2, for personal and national reasons following some comments made by his former co-star, Mawra Hocane.
The controversy started when Hocane, a Pakistani actress, criticized India’s Operation Sindoor as a “cowardly attack.” Rane felt that these comments were an insult to his nation and said, “I have zero tolerance for any attack on my nation’s dignity.”
As a reaction to Rane’s move, Hocane branded his withdrawal from the film as a “PR strategy,” implying that it was a publicity stunt. Rane refuted this assertion, claiming that his move was on principle, not publicity, and stressed his refusal to work with people who disrespect his country.
This episode highlights the challenges of cross-border ventures in the entertainment sector, particularly during increased geopolitical tensions.
