Jung Hae-in Woos as Countryside Romeo in Netflix’s ‘Lovestuck’

Netflix’s new K-drama “Lovestuck” reinstalls a favourite romance trope — amnesia — in rural form and sets it within an emotional and suspenseful framework that features swoon-worthy, handsome rural Romeo Jung Hae-in at the center. Acted opposite debut star Ha-Young, the show unfolds promising heart-melting instances of romance and an emotional process of rediscovery.

Directed by Kim Jang Han and penned by Mo Ji Hye, Lovestuck establishes its story in a quaint village where an amnesiac man is brought home by a kind-hearted native woman. As the two become closer, complicated backstories and lost identities start to be revealed, paving the way for an intense emotional ride.

Jung Hae-in, familiar for his romance leads in the past, finds a down-to-earth sensitivity with this rural role, providing a new spin to the traditional amnesia-love plot. Ha-Young, on the other hand, proves to be a tough but delicate heroine, imbuing a overused narrative framework with depth.

The show mines the universal themes of destiny, second chance, and healing through love — a formula K-drama audiences never get tired of. With picturesque landscapes and slow burn chemistry, Lovestuck promises to be a tear-jerking binge-watch when it airs later this year.
