Egyptian Arrested Smuggling Pilgrims Without Hajj Permits in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi authorities arrested an Egyptian citizen for trying to smuggle four undocumented people into the holy lands without legitimate Hajj permits. The arrest follows the tightening of pilgrimage rules by the kingdom as it prepares for the annual Hajj pilgrimage season.

The Saudi Public Security force confirmed the case, saying that the people were discovered to be without the official papers needed to join the Hajj. This situation serves to illustrate sustained efforts by the authorities to crack down on illegal pilgrims and clandestine transport networks.

The officials have also made renewed public warnings regarding spurious Hajj-related advertisements on social media websites. Such dishonest advertisements tend to entice aspiring pilgrims with assurances of “guaranteed entry” but neglect the legal and security guidelines stipulated by Saudi laws.

Officials emphasized that those who will violate these rules will be met with severe punishment, with detention, deportation, and monetary penalties included. As the Hajj approaches, Saudi Arabia is strict about safeguarding the sanctity and integrity of Hajj, making sure that only approved and registered persons can conduct the sacred rituals.
